Falling from orbit (minor spoilers for Astonishing X-Men)

Just read the latest (I think) issue of Joss Whedon's X-Men book. His stuff may not be terribly original, but it's well-written and engaging nonetheless. Here, he brings up an old favorite plot device of mine: drop a bunch of characters from orbit, and see how they manage to survive. Wolverine, unsurprisingly, does it in the coolest fashion. Shortly after impact, we see him in a lotus position, meditating while he waits for enough of his musculature and skin to grow back to get back into the fight. Apparently his lips grew back before the rest of his face, as he manages to give a teammate a pep talk while doing so :-)

Not for the faint of heart

...Wolverine's healing factor doesn't prevent him from feeling pain, does it?

Ow.

Yeah, I was just thinking, if his lips grew back first, there would be bucketloads of screaming....

Nope. But he has loads of experience with it, and has presumably learned techniques to cope
