Prisoner Fest this weekend?

Proposed: Prisoner viewing party this weekend. Not a full 17-hour marathon, probably just the 8-10 best episodes.

Time: I'm busy Saturday, but either Sunday or Monday (Memorial Day) should, in theory, work. Start at noon or one? Dinner break at some point, obviously. Pot luck, or just order take out?

Location: Melville Keep has a comfy living room, and a huge TV. Downside is that T-accessibility is a little hairier than usual, due to Shawmut Station being closed for renovations this weekend.

Wanna come? Have opinions on logistical details? Please respond soon. It would be a Good Thing if I could have the time and place nailed down enough to announce by dance practice.

I'm away this weekend. :-/

But I do have all the DVDs...

Between War of the Roses, Penterra and Balticon, I suspect a lot of folks are away this weekend.

Besides, who want's to watch that fluffy 90s re-make. Now, if you had the original 60s version... :)

well, last time I watched Prisoner episodes with [livejournal.com profile] alexx_kay, they were definately not fluffy 90s remakes. So I suspect we're good.

Hmmm....I was all set to say I'd definately come, but then I read the comment about Shawmut being closed. Let's make that a definate maybe.

As for time, assuming I could come, Sunday's probably better because I can stay a couple hours later than I would on Monday. (Work on Tuesday.) But don't schedule it around me. I'll definately see you Friday the 4th, anyway.

[livejournal.com profile] londo and I could swing it to be there Sunday or Monday, but we do have a party to attend Saturday in Worcester.

Also, how serialized is the show? Will newbies get lost in gaps in the plot when only watching half of the episodes?

Not really. It's useful to watch the first episode or two to get the grounding, and to see the last couple just to understand why people scratch their heads about them. But there isn't a lot of strong episode-to-episode continuity; indeed, Prisoner fandom has lost endless time simply arguing about the correct order of the episodes...

Good, thanks. I have no reservations about watching a "short" marathon, then. :)

Monday from late morning on is probably better than Sunday for me, but neither day is great. Of course, I can always watch the Prisoner here whenever I want to.
