Holiday Season is now Offically Over

The Friedman's have gone home, so our house is back down to its (now) normal complement of five people. Twelve was a bit much. It's nice to have most of the Friedman's here, but it would be nicer if Bill could make less noise whenever he moves -- especially in the mornings. He *is* getting more socialized, albeit with glacial slowness. Now, when he pushes his way roughly through a crowd, he at least says "excuse me".

It was most excellent to see Rick (and his wonderful fiancee Carin). I have been feeling a little disconnected from him of late (as much my fault as his), and that's a poor feeling to have about one of your Best Friends Ever.

New Years at the Buttery was fun. Some of the people I was hoping to see there ([livejournal.com profile] bess and [livejournal.com profile] juldea) didn't show up, but there were plenty of other lovely, witty, velvet-wearing ladies to flirt with, so *that* was all right :-) [livejournal.com profile] kestrell lasted until the big midnight noise, and then I walked her home, returning for more party myself.

The post-midnight phase change left a smaller party than usual this year, though. I figured out after the fact that that was at least partially due to [livejournal.com profile] fabrisse stealing at least half of the cool people over to her own house. I'm torn betwen annoyance at her doing that and annoyance at not being invited myself :-s

Around 2 AM, the conversation drifted (without any prompting from me) to "disastrous bus trips to Pennsic". Well, I do know a cue when I hear one, and half the people in the room hadn't yet heard The Saga of Warrior Bus Lines, so I trotted it out once more.

I sold a few more Pestle DVDs. Demand has not been what I had hoped. Also mildly depressed about no one having apparently *watched* it yet. Le sigh.

Hmmmm... maybe [livejournal.com profile] new_man is right. This is mostly just whining. Time to get off my butt and do some of the useful stuff I've been distracting myself from.

Pestle

Harriet and I watched part of "Pestle." The director's commentary was interesting, but the soundtrack was nearly unintelligible (better with the subtitles on). I don't think it's quite ready for Sundance or Cannes, but as a souvenir it's nice. I think you did a nice job with some fairly poor material (I'm referring to both the play and the videotapes).

Alas, we couldn't bring ourselves to finish even Disk 1. But we tried.

Concerning Pestle... Send Barbara to Twelfth Night with one, and I'll send her back with $20. I've been hoping to make this deal for a while now, but using a middle-man just hasn't been all that effective.

I'm sorry sweetie, you could have come. There were only 6 at my place (plus two who came just for that and didn't hit Buttery). My noise saturation level is quite low, and I'm still having problems with large crowds. So I spend all day cooking cassoulet (and stuff to take to the Buttery), and then come home right after the big noise.

Hugs.

Of course he's right! He's brilliant! A cunning strategist AND a master of disguise!

Assuming I see you at Council tomorrow, I'll get a Pestle from you. I'm unclear whether I'm buying one of getting one for being in the cast out of the goodness of your heart. Either is good with me. In fact, if this project has tapped you, I'll pay you for mine anyway.

Hindsight being 20/20, you probably could have had many of the spoken parts redubbed by the original actors...
