Party Was

I had a Birthday Party, and it was considerably better than all right. Thanks to everyone who came and helped make it a good day, especially with the food. Some memories:

[livejournal.com profile] juldea had customized her t-shirt to wish me a happy b-day! Plus, an excuse to look at her cleavage, always a fine thing :-) Later, she awed us all with her 1337 Guitar Hero skillz0rs. I am intimidated.

[livejournal.com profile] gyzki brought over a copy of "The Ballad of Cat Ballou", which we started watching, but then the house suddenly filled with people, so we never finished. Perhaps we should have a Melville Keep Movie Night sometime soon. When is good for people?

Many literary discussion, ranging from opera, to comic-book continuity, to Elizabethan theater, to modern SF and Fantasy.

Somone discovered, on our front doorstep, a small figurine of a girl in a yellow dress, a fugitive from my set of Betrayal at House on the Hill. Near as I can figure, she must have been there since last year's 21st Century Party!

My friend Kirk from work showed up, with his girlfriend Kristin, and they had an unexpectedly cool present for me. It had come up in conversation at work a few weeks earlier, that Kristin was part of an Elizabethan theater troupe at BU. So they gave me a DVD of a recent production of Edward II that she had co-directed and he had been on the crew of. I was quite pleased, and immediately repaid the gift by giving them a copy of The Knight of the Burning Pestle DVD :-)

[livejournal.com profile] siderea did some MB typing of [livejournal.com profile] kestrell. Kes was somewhat surprised to be the same type as Siderea (INTJ), but *I* wasn't surprised. They certainly have a very similar party-style, in which they seem to focus all attention in the room upon themselves. (This trait might be a bad thing in a boring person, but luckily neither of them is remotely close to that!)

After Juldea had had enough Guitar Hero, [livejournal.com profile] 43duckies ended up getting introduced to (and somewhat enchanted by) Katamari Damacy. I did a little backseat driving, but was mostly distacted by the other fabulous babes surrounding me on the sofa. Babes and videogames -- life doesn't get much better than that :-)

The evening was pretty much finished out by a showing of "A Bloody Deed", because there are still people in the universe who haven't seen it, and two of them were in the room. It is one of my personal missions in life to show that to as many people as possible :-) That took us past 11:30, and I amnaged to have the house cleaned and get to bed by midnight. A most satisfactory day.

Figurine: on the outer doorstep, or one of the inner ones? I expect if it had been there when I and the kids visited, they would have seen it (if outdoor.)

I'm an INTJ also, should you be amused. But I don't think I have that party style. OTOH, I probably wouldn't notice if I did; it would have to be someone else who noticed it.

Outdoors, on the principal front steps. But over to the side, near the handrail - initially I took the figure and its base for a small cufflink.

Thanks again for the rescue! I thought it had been you, but some other folks were involved in the conversation, distracting and confusing my memory.

Oh! very tiny, then. That's not what I was picturing. (sheepish grin)

I believe it was outside. I suppose it is possible that it spent some of the intervening ~year inside a bird-nest. There are now a distressingly large number of birds nesting inside various holes in the house.

I don't think you have that party-style, though again, I'm not much surprised at the typing. I do seem to have a thing for INTJs :-)

But... that shirt shows no cleavage! I think you simply mean to refer to "chest" in general.

Also, it was less that *I* had enough of Guitar Hero and more that my wrist had. I have to say, I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] londo was out of town and unable to come to the party. He can show me up on GH, so I wouldn't have been able to get as much attention as I did. ;)

There is Always cleavage. It's the same principle as Sam the Eagle's rant about how "underneath their clothes, the ENTIRE POPULATION of the WORLD is COMPLETELY NAKED!"

I was stunned that your wrist lasted as long as it did. If I go more than five songs in a row, I regret it. I think I am building up my strength and endurance, but the songs are also getting denser, so my songs/session ability is staying pretty constant.

Um, well, I gave it a quick view at home, and have already mailed it back to Netflix. Rather than "soon" I think you should pick a date some time into the future, that is, well in advance, so I can be sure of arranging to get it back in time. (Hint: not over Labor Day Weekend, I'll be out of town.)
