Day 4: Backslid a bit, only wore the mask for seven hours. I was tossing and turning a lot, and the mask doesn't work as well if I'm not flat on my back. Total sleep: 9.5 hours.
---
Day 5: Mask all night, 9.5 hours.
---
day 6: didn't feel well, very congested, much tossing and turning. Only managed 4.5 hours with mask. Total sleep of 10 hours.
---
day 7: less congested, still lots of tossing and turning. Mask all night. 9.75 hours.
---
day 8: stayed up Too Late, didn't use mask. 8 hours, alarm-terminated.
---
Day 9: 6.5 hours masked. Then woke up tossing and turning. Entertained a brief fantasy of only needing this much sleep now. But I was still *tired*, just not, for the moment, *sleepy*. Read for a while, then eventually slept again. Still lots of tossing and turning; shallow sleep, but vivid dreams. ~9.5 hours total sleep, alarm-terminated.
---
Day 10: 9 hours under the mask. Felt like I could have slept more, but woke up hungry. Still having an issue where I need to shift position off of my back every so often, which doesn't go so well with the mask.
---
Day 11: stayed up later than I should have. Only managed ~2.5 hrs with the mask. Total ~9.5.
---
day 12: My recent problems with the mask have mostly been because prolonged use, at least in its default position, pressed it up hard aginst my teeth and made them ache. This problem worsened over time.
Spent last night trying different mask positions and strap tensions, trying to solve this complex multiply-constrained problem:
1) The mask has to have a decent seal with my face.
2) It has to not hurt.
3) It has to maintain both of the first two properties even if I roll over on my side.
Point 3 is the trickiest one. I think I may have found a solution, but I did lose a lot of sleep on mask-fiddling before I did. Wore the mask all night. Total 'sleep' ~9.25 hours. Must try and not stay up too late tonight...
