Holiday Season is now Offically Over
Jan. 2nd, 2004 03:14 pmThe Friedman's have gone home, so our house is back down to its (now) normal complement of five people. Twelve was a bit much. It's nice to have most of the Friedman's here, but it would be nicer if Bill could make less noise whenever he moves -- especially in the mornings. He *is* getting more socialized, albeit with glacial slowness. Now, when he pushes his way roughly through a crowd, he at least says "excuse me".
It was most excellent to see Rick (and his wonderful fiancee Carin). I have been feeling a little disconnected from him of late (as much my fault as his), and that's a poor feeling to have about one of your Best Friends Ever.
New Years at the Buttery was fun. Some of the people I was hoping to see there (
bess and
juldea) didn't show up, but there were plenty of other lovely, witty, velvet-wearing ladies to flirt with, so *that* was all right :-)
kestrell lasted until the big midnight noise, and then I walked her home, returning for more party myself.
The post-midnight phase change left a smaller party than usual this year, though. I figured out after the fact that that was at least partially due to
fabrisse stealing at least half of the cool people over to her own house. I'm torn betwen annoyance at her doing that and annoyance at not being invited myself :-s
Around 2 AM, the conversation drifted (without any prompting from me) to "disastrous bus trips to Pennsic". Well, I do know a cue when I hear one, and half the people in the room hadn't yet heard The Saga of Warrior Bus Lines, so I trotted it out once more.
I sold a few more Pestle DVDs. Demand has not been what I had hoped. Also mildly depressed about no one having apparently *watched* it yet. Le sigh.
Hmmmm... maybe
new_man is right. This is mostly just whining. Time to get off my butt and do some of the useful stuff I've been distracting myself from.
