Art Accident
Jul. 22nd, 2004 04:00 pmLast night, on the way home from dancing, I caught a little bit of the celebration in honor of MIT's new Stata Center. It seemed extremely... appropriate.
That is to say, the music was far loud to ignore, it mixed genres in ways that made no sense, and created an overall effect of extreme ugliness. Just like the building itself! Further, in a magnificent demonstration of their total committment to "art instead of function", they shut down Vassar Street in order to hold the concert. Well, at least they're consistent.
