Strawberry Report
Jun. 6th, 2006 02:58 pmThe odd weather patterns this year have resulted in the garden ripening in reverse of its normal order. Strawberries require lots of both sun and water to ripen. In normal years, the water is in short(er) supply, and the plants at the bottom of the garden, having gotten more water, ripen first. But this year, *all* the plants got enough water, and sunlight is in shorter supply. These conditions have also made the trees by the sidewalk stretch out their limbs more than normal (in an attempt to catch more sun), and that has left the bottom of the garden in much more shade than usual. So the top half of the garden is in full ripeness, and the bottom half is straggling.
Rain predicted *again* for the next several days :( I hope it clears up in time for there to be strawberries at Kestrell's party...
