Alexx’s October Patreon Update

Happy Hallowe’en-e’en!

This month has seen a lot of progress, though very few “completed” milestones:

• Helped annotate Cinema Purgatorio #12, with looks at stuntmen, It’s a Wonderful Life, and the marvelous game mode known as Chainsaw Rhythm Reggae Action.
• Made considerable progress on section 3 of “Round the Bend”, in which Lucia Joyce meets John Clare for some hot and filthy literary sex. In the course of this, I discovered some surprising things about William Blake’s left foot. There is a section made up almost entirely of the names of hymns. There is a section where, over the span of a few sentences, Moore manages to reference every single one of the Major Arcana of the Tarot, while not slowing down the sex. (My favorite being when he refers to Clare’s penis as “A towering stalk, boy-lightning”). 21 paragraphs down (including the page-long paragraph 50, featuring a condensed history of visionary use of the English language), 8 remaining. I had hoped to finish this (lengthy) section before sending this out, but have been interrupted by…
• Began work updating the Dragaera Timeline with information on the just-released Vallista. While the primary action of the novel only covers a few days, there are bits of backstory going back millennia, so there should be some juicy results. I think I’m about halfway through, though it’s hard to be certain.

These last two should, inshallah, both be finished by the time of the December update.
