I totally agree with you on compromise. So stupid.
Ayn Rand made a lot more sense to me after I found out she was a speed freak. Those books were all fueled by amphetamine psychosis - which explains the black/white nature of the world and morality.
I don't think Objectivism is a particularly coherent philosophy, myself. There are lots of good shreddings of it,
here is a particularly good example by Nathaniel Branden
