On the way to work Friday, there were light puffy flakes of snow in the air. By noon, it was snowing seriously. By 4:30, it was a bad enough blizzard that work did the almost unprecedented, and sent everyone home early.

So, home, and hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] rickthefightguy and [livejournal.com profile] tamarinne. Later on, Barbara and Clara showed up, as did [livejournal.com profile] learnedax. We hung out and chatted, then watched some videos: Invader Zim, Marx Brothers, and a Neil Gaiman thing-y. While trying to get the tv into the right configuration for one of these, I accidentally flipped past Lego Star Wars II, and that caught the crowd's attention, so I showed it off for an hour or so. Who knew it was such a good spectator sport?

One thing we *didn't* see, that I had wanted to, was "A Bloody Deed" from Freestyle Shakespeare. The house copy has gone missing, grrrr. Am now trying to track down Michael Anderson to get more copies...

And so to bed. I had set my alarm for 10 so I could go to the event, but I woke up with a scratchy throat and headache, and it was raining, so I punted.

Spent most of the day playing Lego Star Wars. Did a bunch of Bounty Hunter Missions and Bonus Missions, racking up about 20 more Gold Bricks. That was enough to unlock "Lego City", which is a very silly Legoland suburb, with lots of stuff to blow up, build, ride, or otherwise interact with.

Saturday night was postrevel, which I managed to enjoy much of despite being ill. I wasn't as badly off as [livejournal.com profile] jtdiii, who passed out quite thoroughly in the library. At one point, I had to get to my computer to retrieve some info off of my computer there; it was a very Bilbo-esque moment, creeping past the sleeping dragon with its thunderous snoring.

When Rick and Tamarinne got back, they each gave me a hug from [livejournal.com profile] cvirtue, which were both much appreciated :)

I was sufficiently fuzzy-brained that I don't actually remember much of what happened at the postrevel, but I did have fun, and stay up probably later than I should have. I do recall that [livejournal.com profile] gyzki seemed to be having a great, if somewhat immobile, time, trapped as he was between [livejournal.com profile] calygrey and [livejournal.com profile] kestrell. He has a very good 'long-suffering, but only for irony's sake' expression :-)

Sunday, the house was still pretty full of people, and more showed up after a dim sum expedition. Among the newcomers were [livejournal.com profile] new_man and [livejournal.com profile] mermaidlady, who I haven't seen in ages, and we (and others) chatted about comic books and storytelling theory. In a conversation with Rick and I (and others), New_man mentioned, "You can't just say, 'She was the most beautiful woman in the world'; you should elaborate." Prompted by this, I went and found my copy of the (novel) The Manchurian Candidate, which has a truly marvelous page-long soliloquy that does pretty much that. This led to a discussion of Frank Sinatra's general inadequacy as an actor, which got pretty silly.

A lot of Rick's family came over, including his young nephew. I let him at the Lego Star Wars game, and he had a blast. I gather he has it on GameCube, but hasn't unlocked as much as I have. He tooled around Lego City, and managed to discover and assemble a vry cool ornithopter that I had overlooked.

Near the end of the afternoon, I got to spend some time chatting with A (I asked her what her LJ was, but it fell out of my head…), who I had met briefly at Arisia. She seems like someone I should get to know better; like me, she's pretty quiet, but we did a fair amount of picking up each other's quote-cues, which indicates taste that I approve of :)

Folks left around 4:00. I really enjoyed their visits, but I was also really glad that they were gone, as I was very "peopled-out". I am a pretty strong I on the Myers-Briggs, however much doubt there might be about the other three letters.

Also was still feeling ill, which persisted enough that I called in sick Monday. Mostly better now. Spent most of Sunday Evening and Monday coccooned with WoW... but that's another post.

Darn....almost wish I wasn't so tired. I would have loved to go to post-revel. I won't make that mistake again. I just friended you (as well as [livejournal.com profile] kestrell, with whom I seem have a lot in common).

I'm a big MBTI person as well - I'm an incredibly strong NF which has become an extremely valuable gift in both my work and personal life....though can be incredibly emotionally draining. However I waver on the E/I and T/J based on current state of mind.

Glad you're feeling better. Next time I see you at an event or find myself at The Keep, I'll introduce myself and break out of the "I" ;)

I've read some of your other entries and I'm a huge Heroes fan as well.

It is possible, though that LJ is sufficiently obscure that I cannot be certain.

Luckily for us, your LJ name is very easily remembered. It was quite fun chatting with you Sunday. Hopefully we'll get to do it again soon - and you're right, we have excellent taste. :)

Found this post thru a blogsearch for Michael Andereson.

If you haven't seen it yet on [livejournal.com profile] riba_rambles, I posted A Bloody Deed to Google Video*, free for watching and downloading.

*it exceeds YouTube's length-limits, and I didn't feel like trying to split it in three.

Enjoy!
