I have often thought that of the three elements of the Turing Test, getting the machine to seem convincingly human was the least interesting. Once that's anywhere very far along - like even before Eliza - the other elements are much more interesting philosophically: getting the human to seem convincingly human, and developing human ability to discriminate between them.
