Met a player named Aldor. He had apparnetly picked that name as random syllables a year or so ago. Now, "The Aldor" are one of the two main factions in the Outland, and everyone thinks he's a copycat. Out of pique, he started working for the opposing faction :)

I spent much of the day teamed with Aldor, as we worked well together. Got through a bunch of 2-3 person group quests, and one big 5-man one. (In the course of this we also uncovered several 5-man quests, but the net direction of my quest log was shrinkage.)

Getting together a 5-person group was a bit of a stretch for my leadership skills. #3 was easy. #4 I found on my Friends list, though he hadn't done the quest chain leading up to the one we wanted to do. So Aldor and #3 went off to help him while I sought for a #5. I found a big group of people getting ready to fight Cyrukh the Firelord (a very impressive boss monster). I had already done that quest, but offered to help gratis, on the theory that maybe one of them would help my group afterward in return. This proved far more successful than I had hoped. The whole group came along, so instead of just finding #5, I had actually gotten #5-11! Which turned out to be important. None of my guys had ever done this quest before, and we actually wiped on the first attempt. But someone in the new group had done this one before, and filled us in on strategy after we rezzed. Once we knew what we were doing, the quest went smooth as silk with 11 players :)

Bank account status towards Epic Mount: 76% Also, recently achieved Friendly status with The Consortium and Honored with The Aldor, so some new loot became available. Also, while out adventuring, I found a Rare Enchanting recipe in a random drop. I'll actually need to boost my skill a bunch before I can use it. But that will take cash, and I'm still saving for that fast flying steed. Aldor had one, and seeing it in action made me *very* envious.

I've now done all of the solo quests I could find in the Outlands. It took over 2 months, so I'm hardly disappointed. But I may cut back on my evening playing for a while, since grouping up takes a lot longer. Or, I suppose, I could get back to hanging out with Guildissimo some more...

Over 90% of the way to my Epic Mount. Probably less than a week left to get it. Of course, some people did find faster ways to get 5000 gold.

The other night, I was in Hellfire Peninsula for a bit. There's one area of the zone that's atop a really high plateau, that can't be reached except by flying. Now that I can fly, I decided to check it out. !!! The "trash mobs" in that area are all level 72 Elites. The bossman, a demon big enough to wield a sword about 30 feet long, shows up as level ?? Boss. Clearly, there will be no adventuring up *there* without a *lot* of friends...

---

Got my Swift Purple Gryphon! And it certainly *is* fast. Sadly, I seem to be out of level-appropriate solo content, so I'm mostly going nowhere fast. I feel very ambivalent about this situation.

---

Got invited to join a Tempest Keep group. It's a very cool-looking dungeon, with interesting tactical encounters and sweet loot. It's actually a Draenei space-ship hovering in the void, and you need to be able to fly to get there.

It's become apparent that, in order to see the remaining endgame content, I'm going to have to actively make Friends, and possibly join a Guild. But I already have plenty of off-line friends, and no great interest in making new ones when I don't spend enough time with the current ones. To that end, I've decided that it's finally time to move Rumpelstilt to a new server. As much as I like playing with the guys from work, two of them haven't been on-line at all for months, while the third is rarely on at the same times of day that I am, so we only actually team up about once a month.

It looks like I'll be moving Rumpelstilt to the Scarlet Crusade server sometime in the next week or so. [livejournal.com profile] 43duckies is on there, and it would be good to have more frequent contact with her. Also, she has co-worker friends on that server, who have a high-level guild, and perhaps I can join them. I'll probably be starting up some alts there as well.

---

Well, that went surprisingly smoothly. Probably less than two hours total, from when I initiated the transfer process. Rumpelstilt is now a resident of Scarlet Crusade.

Was on Blackwater Raiders t'other night, and ran into [livejournal.com profile] rickthefightguy. It was only after we had been chatting awhile when, during a quiet moment, I alt-tabbed out to quickly check my email. There was a messgae from Rick, suggesting that I play there that night! I guess the suggestion was a powerful one -- it worked before I even saw it!

We partied up for a brief stint in Ashenvale before I had to go to bed. Implaq is now Level 21, which is as high as I've ever taken a Horde character. Soon she should be seeing exciting new (to her) content!

WoW! I thought I was the only one having gone the solo route. I am a level 66 hunter and have never joined a guild. I rarely if ever do group quests (takes too much time to get a group together and even more difficult to find a good partnership). Cool to have found your blog!
