One wonders what "cargo" the Russians keep bringing down instead of the unfortunate Major Tunde? Perhaps they're trading with the space aliens.

Does anyone know why these spams keep popping up? Are they just hacks meant to amuse, do people fall for them, or do marks who think they're going to be con artists get conned by a rip-off service to invest in the spam?

People fall for them. A small percentage, to be sure, but apparently enough to be profitable.
