It's less than a week since I first became aware of the MIT HawkCam. Man, but red-tailed hawk chicks grow fast! They're already nearly as big as mom. Their adolescent plumage is coming in, and in a much more dignified manner than it does for peregrines (who look really scruffy at this stage). They're still very uncoordinated, which I suppose only makes sense, as their bodies are significantly bigger every day. They are also still depending on mom to feed them, even though the "dinner" is lying in the bottom of the nest with them. Presumably, either they're not strong enough to tear bits off for themselves, or they just haven't thought of the idea yet...

Okay Rick, read more slowly. I read "They are already as big as Mom" to be "They are already as big as a Man."
Too much D&D, I think...
