Had a party yesterday. It was good. I'm not sure why [livejournal.com profile] kestrell thinks she has to get lots of movies for these parties; not many actually get shown, and even fewer get attention paid to them. Seems like, unless the explicit purpose of the party is movie-watching, the best kind of party movies are those that everyone pretty much already knows, so they can go in and out as the fancy takes them, and not lose the plot. Subtitles are also a Good Thing.

Having (many) opposite qualities to my wife turns out to have yet another useful side effect: she's good at party set up, and I'm good at clean up.

Coming up:
Wednesday, 8/18: Knightriders, starting at 8:00 sharp. No short subject, as it's a lengthy feature. I suggest that people who want to order food do some advance planning, so the start time doesn't get missed (feel free to use comments here to do so).

Wednesday, 8/25: The Lion in Winter, with special guest lecture by [livejournal.com profile] gyzki -- further details TBD.

Nothing on 9/1, unless dance is starting up then. I want to get to bed early the night before Worldcon!

I'll be there on Wednesday. I'm up for ordering food or bringing snacks, and I can get there a bit early to negotiate with the other food-orderers.

I'll be in Minnesota on 8/25. I'm not a fan of Lion in Winter (saw it too many times in high school) but it's too bad I'll miss the benefit of [livejournal.com profile] gyzki's commentary.

Here's hoping that there's no dance on 9/1. Maybe the fact that it's the night before Worldcon will work on my side. :)

I know nothing about Knightrider, but am willing to give it a whirl, and would be happy to help organize food. I live in the same basic neighborhood and may have more ability to do that than some.

And I will be there will bells on for Lion in Winter.

Both times I have tried to waste a bit of time in Boston so that I get to your house at 7:30 instead of 6, I end up being late, so I think this time I'll just head straight there... and if no one is there yet, I'll just lounge on the stairs! So I'll be there early to help with food planning and such.
