What I spent my weekend on:

Got comics on Saturday, for the first time on about a month. $275, gah! And that was after putting a bunch of stuff back on the shelf! There are *way* too many good books out there!

Saturday night, stayed in with [livejournal.com profile] kestrell and watched TV. Started out with "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein". Well, it certainly had more of her book in it than any *other* version. That is particularly faint praise, of course. Some scenes and bits of dialogue were clearly recognizable -- which only made the changes to charcters and themes more irksome. Oh well, it probably counts as homework for Kes, at least.

After that, we saw a classic comedy neither of us had previously seen, "You Can't Take It With You". A young Jimmy Stewart is romancing the daughter of a very eccentric family (whose patriarch is played by Lionel Barrymore), but worries that his blue-blood parents will not approve of the match. WONDERFUL movie! Funny and endearing, and surprisingly contemporary in its themes and social views. It didn't hurt that Kes & I recognized aspects of ourselves in the romantic parts :-) Very Highly Recommended.

Today, Kes and I went out to the Aquarium, on a quest for a lobster that she could get autographed by Charles Stross at Worldcon. That particular quest failed, but we had a good time in the aquarium itself, seeing many jellyfish, penguins, turtles, and hermit crabs. I even got Kes to hold a hermit crab briefly :-)

Spent much of this evening looking through the draft program for Worldcon, and making a first cut at *my* 'program'. The first cut has me in an average of 2.5 places at any given time. Presumably I'll be able to cut it down some once I see a program that actually lists the panel participants. The lack of that info is the most frustrating thing about the draft program -- especially the several dozen entries that say "Reading", but give no author. Grump.

...with a dead animal on it

The only toy lobsters I've ever seen for sale were very plush; not useful for autographing. My Mom has a hard plastic one, very realistic, but I don't know where she got it.
