kestrell's copy of the new HP arrived around noon. I spent the afternoon reading the first 5+ chapters to her. It's been a long time since I did such an extended reading -- I missed it. I'm glad that she is letting me do this, as opposed to just scanning it in. My reading is slower, but it's lots of fun to be experiencing it together. We occasionally pause to comment and speculate. It's also interesting to observe the voices that come out of my mouth for the various characters. Some of them are similar to the film voices, some not. Hagrid doesn't quite have the proper accent, but he spontaneously came out at about twice the volume of any other character :-)
A friend has come over to visit Kes, so now I'm resting my voice and catching up on LJ. Will probably spend more of this weekend reading together. Of course, we won't finish, so Kes will end up scanning it in the early part of the week, leaving me at a cliffhanger. But not for too long, I trust.
I don't think it's a spoiler to say that Snape fans will be very pleased with at least one early scene :-)
