Last night, I started going through the latest issue of Previews (the monthly comic book catalog). This catalog shows that Marvel is issuing new first issues of Howard the Duck, Omega the Unknown, and Foolkiller. None of them are being written by Steve Gerber.
[For those who don't know what I'm talking about: Steve Gerber is a quirky comic book writer who rose to prominence in the 1970s, and created all of the above-named characters. He is well known for his strong opinion that it is unethical to work on comic book characters created by a living creator without having that creator's blessing. Of course, expecting ethical behavior out of Marvel is like expecting a pig to sing; the occasional harmonious grunt notwithstanding, it's just not the way things work there.]
Huh. The wikipedia entry on him says that he *does* endorse the new Foolkiller story. Must investigate further... Hm. His blog has this, which reads a lot more like "trying to see the silver lining" than "endorsement" to me.
