alexxkaySpent last night in the guest room. Sleep quality was not optimal, but way better than I've been getting, and quantity was good. Was down for about 13 hours -- which still leaves me in debt, but has me coherent enough to come to work. Brief interruption around 2:00 A.M. by a noisy mouse.
Ordered some fancy noise-cancelling headphones from Bose special delivery. They're expensive, but worth it if they work, and they have a 30-day money back guarantee. If they don't work, I'm living in the guest room for a while.
A coworker assures me with confidence that humming in this kind of heating system is caused by air in the pipes, and that it is straightforward to bleed it out. Unfortunately, it seems futile to do so until the probable *cause* of that air bleeding is removed. All of Melville Ave is under construction to replace the main water delivery pipes, and for the time being, water is coming to our house through a temporary pipe/hose arrangement. It seems likely that this is where the air bubbles got in.
