While looking for Alan Moore videos, I ran into this talk *about* Watchmen by another favorite comics writer, Kieron Gillen. He's not the best speaker, but his actual insights are great, including a few even I hadn't made.

The first 10 minutes of that were painfully empty, but yes, he has some great insights. But I get the impression he completely doesn't get Rorschach as either a character or as another "lowest point of entry". Naming a character "Rorschach" is about as subtle as "Hiro Protagonist" – but as significant as "Y.T." I got that impression because he goes on about the structuralism of symmetry and doesn't once mention "symmetrical like a Rorschach blot". Yes, that "fearful symmetry" is meant as a signal there's something to interpret, the way one is invited to interpret the blots of a Rorschach test.
BTW, and I expect no lay people to know this, but Alan Moore might well, because, really, what doesn't Alan Moore know? The instruction given the subject when administering the Rorschach test and putting a card before them is just four words: What might this be?
