Quick update

Mom died at 10:10 this morning, while dad was at church. I spent several hours with him today, helping clean house, and comfort him as best I was able. I'm glad it's finally over. Dad's pretty devastated right now, but I trust he will pull through.

There will be no funeral, but will be a memorial service at some point. Dad's thinking of putting it off until September-ish, so that more of her friends from the breast cancer list can be there. More details when I have them.

Thnaks to everyone who's offered emotional support to me during this time.

I fucked up. When I saw you last night, I wanted to say something, but it felt funny in front of Rick and Zohane. Yes, I know they both know, but the conversation was light and glib, and I didn't want to dampen their spirits (or yours). I should have let you know then, you and your mom have been in my thoughts quite a bit lately, and I hadn't yet figured out a good way to tell you. I'm still quite a "guy" in some ways. I'm telling you now. I'm very sorry for your loss, and I hope this time of sadness quickly gives way to a time of beloved memories.

In Will's bed at his dad's house still is coiled the long snake your mother made for him when he was born. He sleeps with it, still, though the bell in the tail has long gone silent, and the head has been flattened from much baby pressing.
