I read the Boston Metro today, which I don't often do. Today's issue contained a word which I found sufficiently offensive that I wrote a letter to the editor complaining about it. Care to guess what that word was? (I'll post the full letter later today.)

ETA: Seems like this only appeared in the print edition. Will wait until late tonight to post the answer, so people can look on the way home if they want.

I paged through the Metro earlier on the train, and I know I saw a few things that made me make a :O face, but I can't remember anything in specific.

Just saw another one while getting lunch. My guess is: improbable.

There were many articles, however. Nothing on the front page looked remotely likely.

It can't possibly be 'black', can it?

The on-line version and the printed version are different, so I'm not sure I'm seeing what you saw. I did love this though:

"Trying to piggyback on his success, six candidates in last month's Brazilian local elections changed their legal names to 'Barack Obama'. They all lost"

I can conceive of some contexts in which it might have been 'black', but that's not it this time.

I don't see the bit that annoyed me in the on-line version. Hm. Maybe I won't post the answer until tonight, to give folks time to check the paper copy on the way home.
